Post 285 Ready for Tournament
The Galesburg Post 285 American Legion baseball team heads to Black Hawk College in Moline Wednesday for its first game in the Division 3 tournament.

Galesburg will play Eldred at 1:30. Coach Steve Cheeseman tells WGIL that their opponent from near Carrollton is a bit of an unknown commodity, so they have been working hard to get scouting reports to know just what to expect. He added that just because Eldred is not a big name, they should not be taken lightly.

"When they've reached this level, then they are somebody to be reckoned with," Cheeseman said. "They are a good baseball team. They are made up of a number of communities near Jacksonville...they've had a fine high school season. They've had a fine Legion team. They'll be a formidable opponent."

A win would have Post 285 playing Thursday at 5, while a loss sends them into a 10am contest Thursday morning. Pekin and Rock Island are playing the tournament's opening game, with the winner getting Moline at 5pm Wednesday.
