CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois center Mike Tisdale will be part of a USA Basketball select team that will help train the national team for the FIBA World Championships in August in Turkey.
Tisdale is one of 20 players on the select team that will play against the national team later this month in Las Vegas. His teammates will include Ohio State's William Buford, Purdue's JaJuan Johnson and John Leuer of Wisconsin.
The select team was chosen by a committee that includes Illinois coach Bruce Weber, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and North Carolina's Roy Williams.
The team will be coached by Washington coach Lorenzo Romar and Villanova's Jay Wright.
The 7-1 Tisdale averaged 11.9 points and six rebounds a game in 36 starts last season for Illinois. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
