The Galesburg Women's All-City Golf Tournament tees off Tuesday at Lake Bracken. Gail Hannam will be back to defend her title against 23 others, as they try to weather the heat this week. The second round is scheduled for Wednesday at Bunker Links, with final round play coming up Friday at Soangetaha Country Club.
The Men's All-City Tournament finished Sunday, with Coby Thompson taking a 3-stroke victory over David Blake. Defending champion Jake Scott finished third, 6 strokes off the pace.
The Galesburg Legion baseball team is practicing for Tuesday's game at the Third Division Tournament in Jerseyville. Post 285 will play Eldred at 3:30, after winning the District 15 title over the weekend in Canton.
Galesburg's 9 and 10-year old Cal Ripken baseball teams will be traveling to the Ohio Valley Regionals this weekend. The 9-year-olds will go to St. John, Indiana, while the 10-year-olds will head to Lexington, Kentucky. Galesburg will host the 11-year-old tournament, but the host team will not be involved after falling twice at the state tournament on Saturday. |
