| Post 285 Wins 3rd Division Tourney |
| Although both the Galesburg and Rock Island Legion baseball teams will be playing in next week's state tournament here in Galesburg, Post 285 has bragging rights as the 3rd District champions. On a very hot afternoon in Jerseyville Rock Island picked up a win over Galesburg in the first game 16-10, to force a 2nd game for the title. Coach Steve Cheesman's club came back in the second game to secure the championship with a 9 to 5 win. Chris Fields was the winning pitcher while Timmy Rossel got the save. Post 285 is now 38-11. They'll open play in the Legion State Tournament at Jim Sundberg Field Wednesday night at 7:00. |
