The Cal Ripken Ohio Valley Regional 11-year-old baseball tournament is wrapping up Monday at Voyles Field in Galesburg. The Championship game will be played Monday at 7 O'clock. The Galesburg team finished with a record of 3 and 1, with their only loss coming to Mattoon Sunday in elimination play by a score of 12-5.
The Galesburg Legion baseball team is practicing up for this week's state tournament to be played Wednesday through Saturday at Jim Sundburg Field. Post 285 will play Alton Post 126 in their opening game Wednesday evening at 7pm. Other teams in the field include Elgin, Rock Island, Mattoon, and the First Division winner, which is yet to be determined due to rainouts over the weekend. Palatine, Arlington Heights, and Elk Grove are all in the running for that final spot. |
