| Bears in Better Spot Than Most Teams |
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)--The Chicago Bears are back. The Bears opened their facility in Lake Forest, Ill., on Tuesday morning, the lockout over and everyone looking ahead to football for a change. Defensive lineman Israel Idonije says he thinks the Bears are in good position to get up to full speed more quickly than other teams. Coming off a run to the NFC championship game, most of the core players are under contract and the same systems on offense and defense are in place. With a labor agreement in place, teams were able to start signing draft picks and undrafted rookies on Tuesday. They also began negotiations with veteran free agents but can't sign them until Friday, the same day the Bears are scheduled to report to training camp in Bourbonnais, Ill.
