Stricker Shoots for 3rd Straight Deere Title
SILVIS, Ill. (AP) -- Steve Stricker can make history again at this year's John Deere Classic.

Stricker will try to win the tournament for the third straight year when it starts Thursday. A three-peat has been accomplished only 20 times in the history of the PGA Tour, most recently when Tiger Woods won his third consecutive Bridgestone Invitational in 2007.

Last year, Stricker opened the tournament with an 11-under 60 but was overshadowed by Paul Goydos, who shot what then was just the fourth 59 in tour history. They were the two lowest scores ever recorded on a single day at a PGA event.

Stricker says he feels some pressure in trying to win again. He says that's OK because it should motivate him to play well on a course that traditionally yields low scores, but is likely to be more challenging this year because dry weather has firmed up the greens and fairways.
