Local Sports Roundup 7/11/11
The Galesburg Men's All City Golf Tournament has a new leader following Sunday's second round play at Soangetaha Country Club. David Blake shot a 70 to take a 2 shot lead into Saturday's third round at Lake Bracken. Blake's two-day total of 141 helped him overtake first round leader Coby Thompson, who stands at 143 after carding a 78 Sunday. Corey Verseman is third at 148, while Jake Scott struggled with an 81 Sunday, putting him eight shots off the pace at 149.

The Galesburg Legion baseball team is on a roll heading into postseason play. Post 285 has won eight straight ahead of Tuesday's District 15 tournament matchup with Quincy. The Oneida Legion team also has it's tourney opener Tuesday, as they will play Henry County at 5pm. All the District 15 games will be played at Em's Field in Canton this year. Even if Galesburg stumbles there, they are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament the last week of July, as Galesburg is hosting the event beginning July 27th at Sundburg Field.
