Local Sports Roundup 7/13/11
Quincy scored twice in the 9th inning to rally past Galesburg 4-3 in the opening game of the 15th District Tournament in Canton Tuesday. Tyler Farrell pitched into the 9th inning, but a bloop single and a past ball cost Post 285. Quincy meets Farmington Wednesday in the winners bracket, while Galesburg will now have to try and play its way through the lower side of the draw. They will play at 5pm Thursday against either Oneida or Canton. Oneida won Tuesday's other game, topping Henry County 9-7.

The Galesburg School Board this week accepted several resignations from coaches within the district. Tim Redington will no longer be coaching boys varsity soccer, as Freshman coach Phil Redington is moving up to take over at the varsity level. Also, Patricia Keenan has resigned from her coaching assignments in volleyball and basketball at Churchill Jr. High, as well as her position as assistant softball coach at the high school.
