AREA GOLF
Mike Tapper has a one-stroke lead going into the final day of the Galesburg Men's All-City Golf Tournament. Tapper shot four-under-par 67 for the day Saturday at Bunker Links for a tournament total of 207. Jason Hallam has a score of 208, with Mack Foster coming in at 209, along with Jackson Wetherbee and defending champion Coby Thompson. The final round starts Sunday at noon at Lake Bracken.
BASEBALL
Galesburg goes on to the championship game Sunday in the 10-year old division of the Cal Ripken State Tournament at Voyles Field, after defeating Geneseo 11-3 Saturday. Galesburg will have to play two games if they want to win the championship. Meantime, Geneseo handed the Galesburg Nationals a 3-2 loss in 8 innings in the 11-year old division. Wabash Valley will play Mattoon for the championship Sunday. The Galesburg 14-year-old team defeated Geneseo on their home turf 15-9, going on to the championship game of that division at noon Sunday. |
