| Bears Aiming High Going into Camp |
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) -- General manager Phil Emery says the Chicago Bears will have to prove they really are Super Bowl contenders.
With expectations soaring, the Bears will take the next step as they open training camp this week. As players started filing in on Tuesday, Emery said it's on them to prove they belong in the discussion with the Super Bowl contenders. He says ''it has to be earned on the field.''
The Bears made some big moves, most notably hiring Emery to replace the fired Jerry Angelo and acquiring Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall from Miami. And just last week, they settled their most immediate issue when they agreed to a four-year, $32 million deal with Pro Bowl running back Matt Forte. |
