Legion Baseball
An easy win for the Galesburg American Legion baseball team Friday night, as they face the same team in the District Tournament next week. Post 285 defeated Farmington 14-4, bringing Galesburg's record to 32-13. The two teams will be meeting again Tuesday in the double-elimination event. A doubleheader Saturday with Milan in town for a 1pm start will mark the end of the regular season.
Softball Tourney
Play continues Saturday in the girls 18-and-under softball tournament being held at Carl Sandburg College.
Little League
The Cal Ripken League 10 and 11-year old state tournaments will be held next week at Voyles Field in Galesburg. The pairings for the games and the home run derby are still being determined. Opening round games will be held on Thursday. Jim Melvin with the Galesburg Youth Baseball League will be our guest Tuesday morning at 8:15 on WGIL to give us a preview of the event.
Golf
The Galesburg All-City Men's Golf Tournament will begin Saturday at noon at Bunker Links. Second round play is set for Sunday at Soangetaha. Coby Thompson is the defending champion. |
