Next up for the Galesburg American Legion Post 285 baseball team is this week's Third Division Tournament, being held at Sherrard High School. Galesburg advanced to the next level with Friday's 6-3 win over Oneida to take the title at the District 15 Tourney in Farmington. Coach Steve Cheeseman's team will meet Moline at 4pm today to open this week's event, which is being hosted by the Milan Legion. Milan will play Washington in the nightcap at 7. Jerseyville drew the bye in the 5-team event, and will play the winner of today's Galesburg vs Moline matchup tomorrow night.

After passing his physical over the weekend, former Monmouth College standout Alex Tanney has officially been added to the Dallas Cowboys roster. Tanney was one of three quarterbacks who worked out with the Cowboys in the last week, but the only one to have received an offer. He will be the fourth QB on the Dallas roster, which also includes Tony Romo, Kyle Orton, and Nick Stephens. Tanney spent last season on the Kansas City Chiefs injured reserve list, after sustaining a hand injury in a preseason game.

Knox college will be looking for a new wrestling coach. Tony Islas, who has led the Prairie Fire wrestling program since 2001, is stepping down to become the assistant principal at the Woodruff Career and Technical Center in Peoria. Knox athletic director Chad Eisele says a national search to replace Islas is already underway.
