There was a first time winner at the Galesburg All-City Golf Tournament that wrapped up over the weekend. Cody Reiber took the title by four strokes over runnerup Mack Foster. Foster actually had the better round yesterday at Soangetaha Country Club, as he fired an even-par 72 to finish at 294. Reiber shot a four-over-par 76, and finished with a total of 290 over the four rounds of the tournament.

The Cal Ripken League's 11-year-old Ohio Valley Regional will be held in Galesburg this week. Teams from 5 midwest states will be in town for the event according to longtime youth baseball organizer Jim Melvin.

Melvin says the teams will begin to arrive at midweek for special events ahead the baseball games.

The Galesburg 11-year-old team will automatically qualify to play in the tournament for serving as the host, but will be a heavy underdog to the rest of the field. That field includes Homewood, which won the state tournament earlier this month at Voyles Field in Galesburg.
