The 2013 John Deere Classic Golf Tournament tees off tomorrow in the Quad Cities. Iowa native Zach Johnson is the defending champion, and says he anxious to get things started.
Johnson is hoping that he can perform well on the course in Silvis, and turn around what has been a tough year for him in 2013.
The tournament field will also include a good number of international players, according to tournament director Claire Peterson. He credits that to a charter jet that they secured to take players directly to Scotland and the British Open at the end of the Deere Classic late Sunday.
The jet will go straight from the Quad City Airport to Edinborough, Scotland for the PGA's third major tournament of the year.
Legion baseball returns to Galesburg this evening, as Post 285 hosts Pekin in a single game being played at Knox College. Galesburg is looking for its' 30th win of the season. None of the team's remaining three home games will be played at Sundburg Field, as work has begun on renovations there as part of Galesburg High School's sports facilites improvements.
Also in American Legion play tonight, Oneida has a doubleheader scheduled at Canton.
