The only game on today's schedule at the District 15 American Legion baseball tournament has Onedia Post 727 facing Quincy. The winner will play Galesburg for the championship tomorrow afternoon, while the loser's season comes to an end in the double-elimination event.
Tomorrow's game begins at 12:30. Should Galesburg drop the opening game, it would force a second game to determine which team will advance to next week's Division Tournament in Morton.
Play begins this evening in the 10-year-old Cal Ripken League state baseball tournament being held at Voyles Park in Galesburg. The first game (which began at 5:30) features Galesburg and Evergreen Park. The nightcap has Geneseo playing Homestead.
Play in the 11-year-old bracket begins tomorrow, while the 9-year-old games will be played on Saturday.
The final round of the Galesburg All-City Women's Golf Tournament will be played tomorrow at Lake Bracken. Taylor Thompson carries a nine-stroke lead into the finale, after carding a record-low score of 67 yesterday at Soangetaha Country Club. Jessica Leiber is in second place, and defending champion Steffanie Mitchell is third. Today was an off-day for the 23 participants in the annual event.
