| Jenks to Avoid DL, Could Pitch for Sox vs. Twins |
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks will stay off the disabled list for now.
Jenks threw a problem-free bullpen session before Tuesday's game at Minnesota and is expected to be available to pitch Wednesday. Jenks has been bothered by back spasms, which forced him out of last Thursday's game against the Twins in a non-save situation in the ninth inning.
The White Sox started a critical three-game series against the first-place Twins at Target Field.
Manager Ozzie Guillen was noncommital about when Jenks would return to the closer's role. Jenks has pitched in only two of Chicago's last 10 games. The two-time All-Star has a 4.97 ERA with 23 saves this season. Guillen said the bullpen is "very very very good" with Jenks healthy and "just good" without him.
