| Local Sports Schedule for 8/23/10; GHS Golf Picks Up Win |
The fall sports schedules begin to get busier as the all of the area high schools will have begun classes by midweek. Monday's events include:
Golf: GHS boys at Alleman
GHS girls host Rock Island
Knoxville boys host Mid County
Knoxville girls at Erie
Soccer: M-R boys host Illini Bluffs (Roseville)
Tennis: GHS girls host Geneseo
Volleyball: GHS "meet the streaks" at 5:30pm
Over the weekend, the Galesburg girls golfers made a terrific showing at the Rock Falls Invitational. GHS finished 2nd in a field that included 10 AA teams and 14 class A teams. Galesburg had 3 of the top 5 individual performers, with Katarina Mangieri leading the way with an 82. Jessica Leiber fired an 84, and Marissa Vinson posted an 87. St. Charles North won the event by 12 strokes. Wheaton St. Francis was 3rd. |
