| U.S. Teams Play for World Flag Football Titles |
OTTAWA (AP) -- Twenty teams from three continents, including American men's and women's squads, will play this weekend in the Flag Football World Championships.
Held every two years, this will be the fourth world championships and will feature teams from North America, Europe and Asia. Nine men and 15 women will represent the United States.
The U.S. men are grouped in pool play with Denmark, Israel, Japan, Korea and Mexico. The other men's group includes Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Austria. The United States is the No. 3 seed behind defending champion Canada and Denmark.
The U.S. women also are seeded third, trailing defending champion Mexico and Canada. The United States joins Canada, Japan and Sweden in one group. The other has Mexico, Israel, Austria, Germany and Denmark. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
