Illini Ready to Lean on Offense in New Big Ten
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois has holes to fill on both sides of the ball after a 7-6 season.

Coach Ron Zook says there's no reason that the high-powered offense can't pick up where it left off. The team averaged 42.2 points over the last seven games a year ago and closed with a Texas Bowl win.

Key defenders Martez Wilson and Corey Liuget are gone, and the Illini will have to lean heavily on the offense and quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase.

The Illini open the season with five straight home games, beginning with Arkansas State on Sept. 3.
