| Bears RB Forte Wants Extension |
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) -- The Chicago Bears are ending a tumultuous week of training camp wondering whether they'll have running back Matt Forte available for Saturday night's preseason opener with Buffalo while trying to cool down wide receiver Johnny Knox. Forte said he couldn't rule out holding out of Saturday's game because he is still waiting for a contract extension which has been promised to him by general manager Jerry Angelo. However, Forte also stresses it's only an alternative at this point and not a course of action. Knox, meanwhile, is upset over a Chicago Tribune story saying he wanted to be traded because new wide receiver Roy Williams had taken away his starting spot. Knox, who led the team in TD catches and yardage over the past two seasons, denies he wants a trade. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
