VOLLEYBALL[/u[
Some of the Galesburg-area varsity volleyball teams will swing into action Tuesday, including:
Abingdon at United Williamsfield at Knoxville Beardstown at North Fulton Ridgewood at Riverdale
The Galesburg girls first match is still a week away, when they will travel to Quincy.
GOLF
Another beautiful day of weather has many of the high school golf teams out on the area courses. The Galesburg boys are playing 18 holes Tuesday at Gibson Woods in Monmouth. The four team get-together includes the hosts, as well as Quincy and Rock Island Alleman. The Silver Streaks defeated Alleman in a dual by six strokes yesterday in the Quad Cities.
The Galesburg girls are near Aledo Tuesday, playing at Hawthorne Ridge against Mercer County. The Streaks girls are 2-0 in duals following Monday's win over Rock Island.
SOCCER
The season opens Tuesday night for the GHS boys soccer team as they travel to Geneseo. The sophomores begin at 5, with the varsity set for 6 o'clock.
COLLEGE SOCCER
Monmouth College is giving one of it's coaches double-duty this year. Barry McNamara, who has been at the helm of the Fightig Scots women's soccer program for nine years, will now be coaching the men's team as well. McNamara replaces former coach George Perry, who left the program in June. |
