The Quad City Mallards hockey team announced yesterday that they have entered into an affilitation agreement with the NHL's Minnesota Wild. The deal allows for prospects to be assigned to the Mallards for developmental purposes throughout the season. The Mallards will open their fourth season in the Central Hockey League on October 19th.
The Knoxville Blue Bullets volleyball team looks for a second straight win tonight when they host Mercer County. Last night, Knoxville defeated Stark County in two games to begin their new season. Also last night, the Abingdon-Avon (A-Town) Tornados won the first match of their new merger, as they defeated United in two straight games. Taylor Cudd had 12 service points for the Tornados, while Brea Simkins had 9 assists to lead the Red Storm.
The Laurel Greens golf course will play host to high school golf this afternoon, as the Knoxville boys and girls will play Orion. Also in the area today, the Williamsfield boys host both Mercer County and Princeville at Oak Run.
