High School Boys Golf

Galesburg won a triangular meet Tuesday afternoon at Gibson Woods.

The Silver Streaks finished two shots better than Monmouth-Roseville (152-154). Orion was a distant third with a 196.

Logan Scott of Galesburg earned medalist honors by shooting a 1-over par 36. The Titans' Matt McVey was next with a 37. David Blake of GHS and Connor Gillen of M-R rounded out the top four after both carded 38s.

Travis Fritz led Orion with a team-low 42.

Galesburg's junior varsity team outshot Monmouth-Roseville 157-179. Chad Moore led the Streaks with a 38. Alex Temple shot a 42 for the Titans.


Knoxville finished second in the Prairieland Conference meet at Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills in Cuba.

The Blue Bullets (345) finished 16 shots behind first-place Havana. Elmwood-Brimfield (355) was third and North Fulton (394) finished fourth.

Logan Goff of Knoxville shot a team-low 79, good for second place overall. Havana's Colton LeMaster earned medalist honors with a 76.

High School Girls Golf

Knoxville won a dual meet against Elmwood-Brimfield at Laurel Greens.

The Bullets defeated the Indians (192-214) by 22 shots.

Abby Ball of Knoxville fired a 1-over 37 to claim medalist honors. Taylor Thompson had Knoxville's second best score of 44.

E-B was led by Kori Crawford's 49.

High School Volleyball

-Annawan beat Abingdon in two games (25-18, 25-20)

-Monmouth-Roseville won an Olympic Conference match against Macomb in two games (25-21, 25-19). Macomb won the junior varsity match in two games.

-West Central downed West Prairie in two games (25-13, 25-12)

-Ridgewood bested Stark County (two games)

-BPCA is now 2-0 after handling Peoria Heights (two games)

-Princeville defeated Galva (two games)

-Brimfield-Elmwood won against Peoria Woodruff (two games)

-Lewistown lost to HartEm (three games)

-Canton lost to East Peoria (three games)

-South Fulton handed North Fulton its first loss of the season.

The Rebels (3-3) bounced back from a first game loss against the Wildcats (2-1) to win the next two and claim the match in three games (14-25, 25-19, 25-13).

North Fulton won the junior varsity match in three games.

-Illini West downed Mercer County (two games). The Chargers also won the junior varsity match (two games).

-Orion (5-2, 1-0) won its first Olympic Conference match, defeating Sherrard (2-1, 0-1) in two games. Sherrard won both the sophomore and freshmen matches.

College Volleyball

Carl Sandburg College lost in non-conference play in Davenport against St. Ambrose.

The Chargers fell to the Bees in three straight sets: 18-25; 20-25; 23-25 in the best of five match.

CSC's Alivia Colwell had 10 kills on 13 attempts, 9 digs and 3 aces on the night. Stacy Boys had 8 kills, 1 block and 10 digs. Trisha Beswick led the Chargers with 19 assists.

CSC coach Todd Winkler says the team is getting better. "We have some bright spots every night we play, but we are showing our youth because we make to many unforced errors and have lack of consistence each point we play."

Sandburg opens Arrowhead Conference play Wednesday at 6 p-m against Illinois Valley at John Lewis Gymnasium.

High School Girls Swimming

Galesburg dominated the swimming portion of a meet Tuesday at Rock Island.

The Streaks outscored the Rocks 125-45. The diving portion of the meet is scheduled for Wednesday night.

High School Boys Soccer

Galesburg High School's freshman team opened the season with a 4-2 win at home against Moline.

Michael Gabarra scored three goals and had an assist for the Silver Streaks. Drake Sykes scored the other goal for GHS, which outshot Moline 9-6 in the match.
