High School Girls Golf

Galesburg remains undefeated in dual meet play after beating Metamora and Mid County at Snag Creek golf course.

The Silver Streaks (6-0) shot 174 as a team. Metamora (4-6) shot 218 and Mid County (0-7) 253.

Galesburg's Natalie Heck fired a 40 (+3) and was the medalist. Teammate Marissa Vinson finished one shot behind with a 41. Four of the Streak golfers shot under 50.

Sarah Swise carded a 60 for Mid County's low score.

High School Boys Golf

Midwest Central edged Knoxville by two strokes at Laurel Greens.

Knoxville finished with a 167. Three Blue Bullets shot 41s: Dan Soyanco, Cameron Slate and Josh VanAntwerp. Two players from Midwest Central had low scores of 40.

Midwest Central also won the junior varsity match, outshooting Knoxville 193-204. Dakota Carman led the Bullets with a 50.


Riverdale won a three-team meet against Ridgewood and Williamsfield at Oak Run.

Ridgewood (7-3) combined to shoot 173, 11 shots behind Riverdale (11-3). Ethan Francis had a birdie and carded a team-low 40 for Ridgewood.

Williamsfield's Alex Ott fired an even-par 36 - which included one birdie - to earn medalist honors. Williamsfield (2-13) as a team shot 184.


West Central picked wins against United and Princeville at Laurel Greens South.

The Heat combined to shoot 151, led by Taylor Smith's 35.

United shot 180. The Red Storm's individual low score was a 39 (J. Gavin). Princeville, which shot 204, had an individual low of 47.

High School Volleyball

Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon defeated North Fulton.

The Spartans (3-0) won in two games (25-19, 25-23).

Bridjet Blount had 6 kills and Taylor Elder recorded 7 aces to lead B-PC-A. Meredeth Beoletto led the Wildcats (2-2) with 8 kills and Kari Kenser had 8 service points.


The Galesburg High School freshman "A" team lost to Burlington in three games (25-15, 21-25, 9-15). The GHS freshmen "B" squad defeated Burlington in two games (25-22, 25-13).

High School Boys Soccer

A goal with about four minutes left by Jacob Krisher salvaged a 2-2 for Galesburg High School at EastSide Centre.

The Streaks (5-0-2) led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Andrew Smith, but saw P.C. score two answered goals in the second half. P.C. took the lead with 10 minutes left in the contest.

Galesburg's junior varsity team won 3-0 and were led by Colton Boydstun's two goals. The Streaks junior varsity squad remains undefeated.

High School Girls Tennis

Galesburg High School's varsity girls tennis team earned its first dual win of the season with an 8-1 triumph over Limestone on the home courts.

The Streaks captured all the doubles matches and won five of six in singles to move to 1-3 on the season.

Foreign exchange student Rozelle deWet won a number one singles and teamed up with Rachel Sensabaugh to win #1 doubles.

Local College Sports

Monmouth College's women's tennis team shut out Illinois College (0-1) 9-0 in Midwest Conference play. The win is the first of the season for the Scots (1-1).
