Illinois Gets First Victory; Rolls Illinois State
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Backup quarterback Eddie McGee replaced an injured Juice Williams and led Illinois to a 45-17 win over Illinois State.

Williams left the game after the Illini's first series. The senior injured his right quadriceps on a 49-yard run to the Redbirds' 1-yard line. Illinois officials said Williams was healthy enough to return, but with the Illini up 24-0 at the break, he didn't.

McGee was 13 of 17 passing for 164 yards and one touchdown. He ran the ball 18 times for 55 yards and two TDs.

McGee gave the Illini (1-1) a 14-0 lead with a 1-yard run midway through the first quarter. His 27-yard TD pass to Chris Duvalt made the score 21-0 early in the second.

The Redbirds (0-2) were led by redshirt freshman quarterback Matt Brown's 27-of-46 passing for 312 yards and two TDs.
