|Part of North Chicago Football Program Reinstated
|BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois High School Association has reinstated part of the North Chicago High School football program that was suspended following a brawl with an opposing team.
The IHSA maintained its suspension of the high school's varsity football team, which fought with Chicago Simeon High School's football team.
North Chicago's athletic director James Hentschel said Monday he and other school officials had a constructive meeting with IHSA officials. Association officials are expected to soon announce the length of North Chicago's suspension.
Simeon was ahead 21-0 with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter when the game, played Sept 4 at North Chicago, was called off and Simeon declared the winner.
While Simeon wasn't held blameless, IHSA officials said film of the game shows North Chicago players were "way out of line in this case."
