| Cubs Promote Veteran Taguchi |
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Cubs have purchased the contract of seven-year big league outfielder So Taguchi from Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs made the move Wednesday before their game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Taguchi played 85 games at Iowa this season, batting .248. He signed a minor league contract in January.
The 40-year old Taguchi has a career .279 batting average in 666 major league games with the Cardinals and Phillies. He's played on World Series winners with both St. Louis and Philadelphia.
Taguchi gives the Cubs depth in center field after Sam Fuld hurt his right wrist making a diving catch Monday night.
