|High School Boys Golf
Galesburg won a Western Big Six dual meet against East Moline in the Quad Cities.
Jacob Schwieter fired a 2-under par 34 to lead the Silver Streaks and earn medalist honors. Another GHS golfer also shot under par. David Blake carded a 35 on the par 36 course. Teammate Kelby Rescinito also shot well, finishing up with a 37.
East Moline's low score was a 41. GHS won the match by 38 strokes (146-184).
Knoxville improved its record to 4-4 on the season with an 8-stroke win against Farmington at Laurel Greens.
The Blue Bullets' Logan Goff was the medalist. He shot a 1-over 37. Dan Soyanco had the next lowest score for Knoxville with a 40. The Bullets combined to shoot 164.
Farmington's Adam Camp and Daulton Davis both shot 42s.
Williamsfield edged United by three strokes and Illini Bluffs by 19 at Oak Run.
Alex Ott sank two birdies finished with a 3-over 39 to lead the Bombers to their first outright win this season. Dale Chandlee was next with a 40. Billtown outshot United 170-173.
United's Alex Gavin was the medalist with an even par 36. He had three birdies. Jake Gavin had the Red Storm's next lowest score with a 44.
Illini Bluffs' low score was Dody Bonneville's 43.
Mid-County defeated Princeville (174-198) at Laurel South.
High School Girls Golf
Galesburg won a Western Big triangular meet against Alleman and Rock Island at Saukee Golf Course in the Quad Cities.
The Silver Streaks (9-2) combined to shoot 165, led by Marissa Vinson's 38.
Alleman (9-2) finished five strokes behind Galesburg (170). The Pioneers' Abby Friederes fired a 36 to earn medalist honors.
U-T (4-8) shot 176 as a team.
Elmwood-Brimfield defeated Mid-County by 23 strokes (206-229) at Oak Run.
High School Volleyball
United defeated Abingdon in two games to remain undefeated on the season.
Gina Long led the Red Storm (10-0) with 7 kills and 4 blocks. Katie Kaywood contributed 8 digs and Mollie Murdock recorded 21 assists.
Abingdon's Mellissa Von Kannon had 3 kills and 3 service points. Dana Combs added 6 digs and Cordan Jones had 4 assists.
Knoxville downed South Fulton (7-4) in two games. The Blue Bullets also won the junior varsity match in two games.
Rowva (0-8) lost to Princeville (6-4) in two games at Princeville. Princeville also won the sophomore and freshman matches.
Illini Bluffs (4-4) defeated Williamsfield (3-7) in two games. Illini Bluffs was also victorious in the sophomore match.
Brimfield-Elmwood stopped Peoria Heights in two games.
High School Boys Soccer
Galesburg suffered its first loss of the season against Washington.
The Panthers outshot the Silver Streaks (6-1-2) 8-6 and won the match 3-0.
Lucas Miller had six saves in goal for GHS.
The GHS junior varsity team beat Washington 3-0 to remain undefeated.
Monmouth-Roseville doubled up Orion/Sherrard 6-3. The Titans are now 11-2-1 on the season.
High School Girls Tennis
Sterling beat Galesburg 7-2
Local College Sports
Knox College's volleyball team lost to Principia College in four sets (21-25, 26-24, 16-25, 17-25).
The Prairie Fire was led by Galesburg native Kelly Ricketts. She had 19 kills and 4 digs. Karen Frost added 29 assists and 8 digs while Lisa Blagg had 18 digs for Knox.
Knox College's women's tennis team beat Monmouth College 5-4 for the Prairie Fire's first win of the season.
Singles winners for Knox were Rachel Clark, Ginny Graves and Sarah Bolitho. In doubles, Katie Beadling and Clark won their match, as did Aimee Neilan and Emily Tyl.
Knox takes on Midwest Conference rival Illinois College at home Tuesday afternoon (4:30).
