| Rockies Extend NL Wildcard Lead Over San Francisco |
DENVER (AP) -- Brad Hawpe homered for the first time since August 29th and the Colorado Rockies beat San Diego 11-10 on Tuesday night despite a rare rough outing from lefty Jorge De La Rosa and a four-run ninth-inning rally by the Padres. Clint Barmes added an inside-the-park homer for the Rockies, who began the night with a four-game cushion over San Francisco in the NL wildcard race. The Giants played at Arizona Tuesday night and lost 10-5, increasing Colorado's lead to five games. The Rockies scored every way imaginable: on the inside-the-park homer, a balk and twice on wild pitches, and they needed every bit of that wacky production. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
