| Date Set for Illinois Trout Fishing |
SPINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The date's set for the start of the fall trout-fishing season.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the season begins Oct. 17 at nearly 40 ponds and lakes around the state.
Anglers must have a fishing license and an inland trout stamp to begin catching trout. Certain groups are exempt from those requirements, including those under 16 and Illinois residents on leave from active duty in the military.
The daily catch limit for each fisherman is five trout.
While rules allow for trout season to start at 5 a.m. on Oct. 17, not all locations will necessarily be open on that day.
