Wilson Looks to Live Up to Promise for Illini
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The football season that starts Saturday won't be Illinois linebacker Martez Wilson's first shot to live up to his promise. It's only the latest.

Wilson was a Top 100 prospect when he joined the Illini in 2007 along with high-ranked recruit Arrelious Benn.

Benn is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer now. Wilson is still trying to find his way.

Wilson has seen almost as much of the hospital since he came to Champaign as he has of the Big Ten spotlight.

He's been stabbed. And he's been cut by a surgeon's knife for a neck injury that ended last season after just one game.

Both Wilson and head coach Ron Zook says he's healthy and ready to live up to the once-high expectations for him. He'll get the chance to start Saturday against Missouri.
