| Illini Need Win, Face Potential Challenge From SIU |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Southern Illinois has some inspiration for Saturday's game at Big Ten school Illinois.
Salukis coach Dale Lennon says a win by North Dakota State over Kansas in particular helps his team (1-0) believe it can compete with the Illini (0-1).
Illinois coach Ron Zook says the talent gap between his team and SIU isn't that great. Zook says some Salukis could play at Illinois. And some Illini might struggle to play at SIU.
The Illini need the win Saturday night. After an opening loss at Missouri, their schedule the next five weeks includes Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State.
