| Purdue Hopes to Avoid Letdown vs. WIU |
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- The Purdue Boilermakers will look to bounce back from a season-opening loss to Notre Dame when they host Western Illinois on Saturday.
Purdue struggled at times against lesser-known teams last season. The Boilermakers beat Ohio State and Michigan and nearly knocked off Notre Dame and Oregon. But the Boilermakers followed that thrilling early loss to Oregon with a stunning 28-21 home loss to Northern Illinois. Looking back, that was among the reasons the Boilermakers failed to qualify for a bowl game.
Second-year coach Danny Hope believes this year's team understands the importance of being prepared for all opponents.
Quarterback Robert Marve says he will need to be more efficient and make more plays this week so the offense won't stall. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
