HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
The Western Big 6 Conference opener wasn't good for the Galesburg Silver Streaks, losing to United Township Friday 53-20. That's three in a row lost for the Silver Streaks (1-3), but the first conference win for United Township in 21-games, which also snapped an 11-game losing streak.
Other Western Big 6 play: Alleman 17, Quincy 7 Moline 42, Rock Island 36
Knoxville is undefeated at 4-0, after taking care of Farmington 40-7. Dillon Lehr had three touchdowns on the night.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team served up two straight set losses in its matches in the first day of the Southeastern Community College Volleyball Invitational Friday afternoon. The Chargers (7-1) defeated Southeastern 25-22, 26-24 and 28-26 in the first match and won over Highland Community College 25-18, 25-15 and 25-20 in the second match.
COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY
The Illinois Intercollegiate Cross Country meet was held Friday at the D. A. Weibring Golf Course at Illinois State University. The Carl Sandburg College Chargers women competed in the 5K race and finished 14th in the college division out of 22 teams. In the men's 8K college division, Sandburg finished 22nd of 26 teams. |
