Volleyball
Many of the high school volleyball teams in our area will be in action tonight. At Knoxville, the Blue Bullets will be looking to bounce back against Rockridge, after falling to Abingdon in their last match late last week. Also tonight:
ROWVA at Abingdon United at Annawan Stark County at Williamsfield Princeville at Galva
In college action, Carl Sandburg travels to Highland, one night after the Chargers picked up their first win of the season over the Monmouth College JV's.
Boys Golf
The Galesburg boys golfers are hosting at 3-team event at Bunker Links this afternoon. Peoria Notre Dame and Limestone are in town to compete with the Silver Streaks, who haven't had a meet since last week's impressive 4th place finish at the Normal U-High Invitational.
Also today in boys golf, Williamsfield and Stark County are at Gibson Woods in Monmouth to play against the host United Red Storm.
Knox Football
A senior member of the Knox football team is being recognized by the Midwest Conference as the "Special Teams Player of the Week." Senior kick returner Mike Shroeder (shray dur) piled up 225 return yards, including a 79-yarder for a touchdown, in Saturday's 62-55 loss to Eureka. Shroeder's nine kick returns also sets a school record, albeit a dubious one, because Knox was giving up so many points. Shroeder and his teammates will begin Midwest Conference play this Saturday on the road at St. Norbert in DePere, Wisconsin. |
