Area teams will tee it up tonight as week number three of the high school football season is here.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks will have their first home game, following victories on the road at DeKalb and Morton. Tonight's opponent will be the Lions of Peoria High School, who come in with a record of 1-1. Galesburg coach Tim Dougherty says the Streaks can't afford to be distracted from their job tonight.

"And that's what I've always preached about, you know very good teams, great teams ya know it's just business as usual whether you've lost one or won one you've got to maintain the highs maintain the lows and come out and do your work and thats the best thing this group has done."

Peoria won last year's meeting 34-14, but Lions coach Tim Thornton feels they will face a tougher test from the Silver Streaks tonight

"Yeah I mean I think they are a much better team then we faced last year from em, I think their strengths are in the same place, clearly their backs are talented and if you make a mistake on one of them they can make you pay for it in a hurry."

Galesburg's Jon Mixon has rushed for a combined 547 yards in just two games, leading the Streaks as they seek to run the table on their non-conference opponents to start the season.

Broadcast time is scheduled for 7:06 tonight with Brad Bennewitz and Jim Lee here on WGIL. The halftime guest tonight will be former Silver Streak George Carter, Jr. George is preparing for his 7th professional boxing match tomorrow night in Davenport.
