The Galesburg boys golf team will be hard-pressed to equal the Silver Streaks girls performance when they play at Bartonville Limestone today. The GHS girls improved their record to 8-0 with a win yesterday at Soangetaha Country Club. Freshman Taylor Nesselroad led the way by firing a school record five-under-par 31. Teammate Jordan Kohler added a 39 and Natalie Johnson shot a 41, as the Streaks won by 43 strokes. Elsewhere in golf today, the Williamsfield boys are hosting United and Stark County at Oak Run.
At the nets in volleyball, the ROWVA Tigers will travel to Abingdon this evening for a match with the Tornadoes. Also in the area, Williamsfield plays at Stark County and United hosts Annawan. The Galesburg girls are off this week, with homecoming activities picking up at Galesburg High School.
This week's high school football rankings haven't changed much for area teams. Rock Island of the Western Big-6 is rated #2 in class 6A after beating Peoria Richwoods last friday, and Alleman stays at #4 in class 4A following their win over the Silver Streaks. Sherrard shows up at #9 in class 3A, while Mercer County is second in 2A, and Stark County is #5 again this week in class 1A.
