Another Western Big-6 Conference football battle awaits the Galesburg Silver Streaks tongiht, as they prepare to host the Panthers of United Township for homecoming at Van Dyke Field. Streak's head coach Tim Dougherty says tonight's opponent has some dangerous offensive players.

The Panthers snapped a nine-game losing streak with last week's 42-28 win over Peoria Manual, but fumbled five times and had 170 yards in penalties. Meanwhile, Galesburg was struggling to move the ball in a 28-7 loss to Alleman. Coach Dougherty says the cooler temperatures tonight will be a welcome break, especially for his team.

Broadcast time is 7:06 tonight here on WGIL. In other games involving Western Big 6 team tonight, Quincy travels to Rock Island; Alleman is at Peoria Notre Dame; and Moline hosts Peoria Richwoods.

The rest of the area football schedule for this evening shows:

Havana at Knoxville
Abingdon/Avon at Lewistown
West Prairie at Mid County
Mercer County at United
Monmouth-Roseville at Macomb

And looking ahead to college football tomorrow:

St. Norbert at Knox
Beloit at Monmouth

Girls Golf

The girls beat Metamora yesterday at Bunker Links 182-213. Taylor Nesselroad had the low score with a 40, while Jordan Koehler had a 42.
