|CSC Men's Soccer Team Earns First Victory
|The Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team won its first match in school history Sunday at home.
The Chargers (1-14) defeated Richard J. Daley College 3-2. Orion native Danny Driskell scored all three goals for the chargers. The freshman scored his first in the 36th minute, his second in the 58th minute and the third for a hat trick in the 78th minute. Zack Ogle assisted on two of Driskell's goals.
Daley outshot CSC 21-10 on goal. Sandburg goalie Evan Morath had 18 saves. Hakeem Anguiano had both of Daley's scores: the first in the 29th minute and the second in the 39th - both unassisted.
Daley won the women's match against CSC 2-0. The visitors outshot the Chargers (2-10) 16-14. Goalie Lindsay Franey had nine saves for the Chargers.
Daley scored its goals in the 69th and 72nd minutes.
Oakton defeated the CSC men's soccer team 5-0 on Saturday.
The hosts outshot Sandburg 31-5 on goal. The first score came at the 10 minute mark of the match. Goalie Andrew Richardson had 20 saves for CSC.
Oakton also beat Carl Sandburg College in the women's match 5-1.
The Chargers scored when Chelsea Brown found the net unassisted in the 79th minute.
Oakton outshot CSC 22-5 on goal. Franey, who was the goalie for the Chargers in the first half, and second half goalie Katie Kramer combined for 15 saves.
Coach Jim Carothers says the women's team held its own against Oakton, but could only manage the one goal. "It was actually a fair match between the two, but Oakton came out on top."
CSC plays again Saturday afternoon at Indian Hills College in Ottumwa, Iowa. The women's match begins at 1:00 followed by the men at 3:00.
