High School Volleyball

Peoria Richwoods swept Galesburg high school in two straight sets.

The Knights won the first game 25-10. The Silver Streaks made it interesting in the second game but wound up on the wrong end of a 25-20 score.

Sara Baker led Galesburg with seven kills, two digs and one service ace. Mickey Rodriguez had six assists and one ace. Amy Blucker added two blocks, Sydney Edwards four digs and Kelsey Meredith two kills.

Richwoods improved its record to 19-9-2. Galesburg falls to 8-12. The Silver Streaks resume play Friday against Peoria Notre Dame in the Limestone Invitational.

Richwoods came from behind to win the sophomore match: 18-25, 25-22, 15-9. Katie Waggoner had five kills for Galesburg, Myra Diggins had 10 digs and two blocks, Anna Barshinger contributed seven digs and Chloe Anderson had nine assists.

GHS beat the Knights in the freshman contest 25-15, 26-24.


Illini Bluffs downed Williamsfield (8-16) in Intercounty Conference play in two games: 25-15, 25-13.


Wethersfield evened its record in the Lincoln Trail Conference by defeating Galva in two games: 25-17, 25-14.

Tessa Swedman led the Flying Geese (15-10, 4-4 LTC) with seven kills, two blocks and three aces. Margaret Thomson had five kills, Sara Peach added 12 digs and three players - Shelby Steger, Claire Hermie and Cassidy Horsley - each had three assists.

Galva's Morgan Nelson had five kills and three assists, Pasence Walton recorded 10 digs, Macy Proege contributed eight blocks and Miranda Olander put down two aces.

Wethersfield beat the Wildcats in the sophomore match 25-12, 25-17.


Princeville (16-6, 7-1) beat Lincoln Trail Conference rival Stark County in two games: 25-19, 25-19.
