| Illini Lose Fourth Straight to Indiana |
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Ben Chappell threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs, leading Indiana past Illinois 27-14 Saturday night.
The victory ended Indiana's two-game losing streak in the series, a three-game losing streak overall and a five-game skid in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers (4-3, 1-2) need two wins in their final five games to become bowl-eligible.
Illinois (1-5, 0-4) lost its fourth straight despite putting quarterback Juice Williams back into the starting lineup. Williams was 16 of 28 for 193 yards with two touchdowns.
The Illini have lost five straight conference road games.
Illinois safety Donsay Hardeman was carted off the field on a backboard when injured trying to make a tackle in the first half. He was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, though a school spokeswoman said Hardeman could move his arms and legs. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
