| Bears Give Promising Defensive End Adams A Chance |
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Gaines Adams didn't live up to his billing in Tampa Bay, but now, the former first-round pick is getting another chance in Chicago. The Bears hope the underachieving defensive end can provide some help up front after acquiring him Friday for a second-round draft pick next year. He is expected to suit up against Cincinnati this weekend. Adams goes from the winless Buccaneers to a team that is 3-2 and trying to contend for a playoff spot. The fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft out of Clemson, the 6-foot-5, 258-pound Adams had 13 1/2 sacks in two-plus seasons with the Bucs. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
