| Illini Heads to Purdue Looking for Rebound -- HEAR THE GAME LIVE ON WGIL |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- When Illinois opened its season back in September, the game at rebuilding Purdue looked like a winnable contest.
That was before the Illini's four-game losing streak and the Boilermakers' 26-18 upset last weekend of Ohio State.
Illinois is 1-5 and 0-4 in the Big Ten. The Illini haven't beaten a big-time opponent -- their only win is over FCS school Illinois State.
Ron Zook said earlier this week that he isn't sure who will play at quarterback Saturday -- senior Juice Williams, junior Eddie McGee or maybe even freshman Jacob Charest.
The Illini have struggled on offense all year. They're averaging just under 17 points a game and have scored just first-quarter points all season.
Purdue enters the 11 a.m. game at 2-5 and 1-2 in the Big Ten. HEAR THE BROADCAST ON AM 1400 WGIL. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. WGIL Sports contributed to this report.) |
