Knox Falls To Carroll on Homecoming
Carroll University defeated Knox College 28-7 Saturday, as the Prairie Fire were unable to stop Carroll when they needed it. The Knox defense forced Carroll to 3rd down 19 times, only to see 12 of those go for 1st downs. Carroll managed 432 total yards of offense, and controlled the ball for almost 2/3rds of the game.

The Prairie Fire, who were down 14-0 with under five minutes left in the second quarter when they would drive the field from their own 20 yard line for their first score of the afternoon. Bill Meyer would find Dan Kizior with a perfectly thrown ball, for a 36 yard touchdown pass, as Meyer laid it over Kizior's shoulder and led him into the back of the end-zone for six points. With a Ryan Stefanczyk extra point it would make the score 14-7 with 1:10 left in the second half. However a lapse on special teams, which allowed Carroll the ball at their own 46 yard line with a minute and ten seconds left in the half, set them up nicely to score with 19 seconds left, and take a commanding 21-7 lead.

Leading the offense for Knox was quarterback Bill Meyer, who threw 9 passes, completing three of them for 88 yards. Dexter Brown was his top target, as he had one catch for 37 yards. Derek Mortensen was the leading rusher for the Prairie Fire, as he carried the ball seven times for 35 yards. Defensively, the Prairie Fire were led by Aaron Juarez, who recorded 11 total tackles, 1.5 of which were for loss, and Tighe Burke, who had 6 total tackles and 2 quarterback sacks.
