Local Sports Roundup - 10/27/9
High School Boys Soccer - Postseason

@ Class 2A Morton Sectional:

Galesburg High School's historic season ended with a 3-0 loss to Normal U-High.

U-High (18-3-1) took a 1-0 lead into the half, then added a pair of goals late in the second period to advance to Friday's sectional championship against Peoria Notre Dame.

The Irish (20-2-1) knocked out Dunlap (12-7-4) 5-3. The Silver Streaks end the season with a 12-6-5 record and earned the first regional championship in the history of the program.

Local College Women's Soccer

Monmouth College spoiled Knox College's home finale with a 6-2 win over the Prairie Fire. The Scots improve their record to 3-3-1 in league play. Knox falls to 1-7.

High School Girls Swimming and Diving

It might not have been the most competitive dual of the season for Galesburg High School varsity girls swimming and diving team, but it was memorable, especially for the seniors.

The Streaks swam past Macomb 140-42 to finish their dual meet season undefeated at 7-0. The seniors were honored, and for good measure, set a new pool record in the 200-freestyle relay.

Local College Volleyball

Monmouth College lost its final match in Midwest Conference play at Illinois College 3 games to 2.

The Fighting Scots (13-13) end the conference portion of the season with a 4-5 record and will need some help to get into next week's Midwest Conference Tournament, which still has one spot up for grabs.

---

Carl Sandburg College fell at Black Hawk East in three sets (21-25, 10-25, 10-25) in the Chargers' final Arrowhead Conference match of the season.

Chelsea Simkins had seven kills and two blocks for CSC. Alivia Colwell added five kills and seven digs and Malinda Anderson recorded five kills and four blocks. Sandburg's Trisha Beswick led the team with 18 assists.
