| Illinois Braces for Return to Spartan Stadium |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The last time Illinois played in Spartan Stadium was in 2006, and head coach Ron Zook was looking for his first Big Ten win.
He got it. But the Illini created a stir he'd just as soon they skipped by trying to plant their school flag at midfield. The move led to pushing, shoving, fines and reprimands.
Not many of the current Illini (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) were at that game. And few have ever been to the stadium. Those who haven't say the seniors on this team have been telling them all about what they believe is one of the toughest places to play in the Big Ten.
And that's before you factor in that this year's Spartans (6-0, 2-0) are undefeated and ranked 13th in the country. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
