Other High School News The Illinois High School Association announced yesterday that the class 1A and 2A state baseball finals will be played this spring at O'Brien Field in downtown Peoria. The contract runs through the 2015 season at the home of the Peoria Chiefs minor league team. Chiefs President Rocky Vonachen said hosting the state finals is an event they have wanted since the facility was built in 2002. (The class 3A and 4A tournament will remain at Silver Cross Field in Joliet).
College The Knox College volleyball team hosts Lake Forest tonight, as they "play for the cure"--hoping to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer and help the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The match begins at 6:30, and there will be raffle, trivia contest, and games during the competition. "Play for the Cure" is a Midwest Conference wide initiative to assist St. Jude's. |
