| Illinois Basketball Kicks Off Season |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois basketball team is kicking off the 2010-11 season with the annual Illini Madness.
Students and fans packed Huff Hall on Friday night as players participated in a dunk and 3 point contest.
Illinois is looking to move past a disappointing 2009-10 season where it finished 21-15 and failed to get off the bubble and into the NCAA tournament. Instead, Illinois entered the NIT where it was eliminated by Dayton in the quarterfinals.
In a prerecorded video that played before team introductions, senior guard Demetri McCamey said the team is ready to ``do damage this year.''
The Illini begin their quest for redemption as they open the regular season Nov. 8
against UC Irvine at Assembly Hall.
