| Illini Hope to Avoid Hoosier Shut Out |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Indiana is scoring 34 points a game this season, but Illinois coach Ron Zook says he hopes to find a way to avoid getting into a shootout Saturday with the Hoosiers. Zook said Tuesday that Illinois' best hope may be to just keep the ball away from Indiana.
The Illini (3-3, 1-2) return home Saturday after back-to-back road games. One result was good, a 33-13 win over Penn State. The other was a 26-6 loss to No. 8 Michigan State that Illinois led at halftime.
Illinois' offense was limited by the Spartans and four turnovers to 255 yards and no second-half points.
Zook said Hoosier quarterback Ben Chappell is probably the best the Illini have seen this season. He's throwing for 309.7 yards a game and has 16 touchdowns. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
